Know what your clothes are made of before you buy them.
Every item here shows its fibre content, how much plastic it sheds in the wash, and whether the brand can show where its cotton comes from. The rules are published and no brand can pay for a better badge.
Fibre
Is it cotton, wool, linen or silk, or does it contain polyester, nylon, acrylic or elastane? We check every listed part, including panels and trims.
Microplastics
Synthetic fibres shed plastic particles every wash. Items above 5% synthetic in any part are flagged.
Cotton origin
"Made in" labels don't say where cotton was grown. We only mark cotton as verified when there is a checkable certificate and a supplier list.

How badges work
Badges are assigned by fixed rules from evidence the brand publishes. The same rules apply to every brand, and every badge links back to its source.

Where the evidence comes from
- Fibre content from the brand's product page or care label.
- Certification licence numbers checked against the GOTS public database, the Textile Exchange certified entities database, or Fairtrade licensee listings.
- Supplier lists from the brand's own disclosures or Open Supply Hub. Most brands only list the sewing factory; the cotton question sits further back, at the fabric mill, spinner and gin.
- Traceability programmes the brand names, such as isotope testing of the fibre.
What "not disclosed" means
It means we could not find evidence either way. It is not a finding that the cotton comes from forced labour. A brand can change the badge by publishing the evidence.
Keeping it current
Every item shows the date its evidence was last checked. Brand-level evidence is re-checked at least every six months, and immediately when a brand sends us new information.
Why this exists
Shopping sites let you filter by size, colour and price. None let you filter out polyester or untraceable cotton. This one does.
Independence
Badges are never for sale. Brands cannot pay for placement, a better badge, or to have a badge removed. If a brand asks us to review new evidence, the badge still depends only on that evidence.
How we make money
Some links to retailers are affiliate links. If you buy through one, we may earn a commission at no extra cost to you. Commission never affects which items are listed or which badges they get.
Corrections
If a badge is wrong, or a brand has evidence we missed, send the product link and the evidence to corrections@madefrom.shop. We review every submission and update the item with the date of the change.
Images
Product images are placeholders until retailer image feeds are licensed through affiliate programmes.
